To get the Catalyst naturally, you must own Sunshot first (via engram drop or vendor if available), then grind activity drops — Strikes, Crucible, Gambit, or Nightfalls — until the Catalyst randomly drops, then complete Masterwork requirements (500 kills + 1000 Sun Blast kills). Because the drop is RNG-based and the Masterwork grind is heavy, many players consider “boost services” to skip the grind and get Catalyst / Masterwork faster.

Services That Offer Sunshot Catalyst / Boost (or Claim To)

Here are several real-world boost services that (as of now) advertise Sunshot Catalyst or full Sunshot-Catalyst + Masterwork boosting/carry. I include what they claim to offer (for transparency) — remember: these are examples, not endorsements.

Service

What They Claim / Offer for Sunshot

Overgear — offers “Sunshot Catalyst Boost / Masterwork.” Their page says they will unlock the Catalyst (and optionally do the Masterwork), and deliver Sunshot with the upgrade.

You get Sunshot Catalyst unlocked, with option for “Catalyst + Masterwork,” plus any additional loot / drops earned during the run.

LepreStore — lists Sunshot Catalyst Boost: they claim to obtain the Catalyst for you, and optionally complete masterwork (kill requirements).

They also mention additional drops/loot and guarantee the upgrade for those purchasing the service.

Epiccarry — on their “Exotic Catalyst Completion Boost” service list, they include Sunshot among weapons for which they offer catalyst boosts.

They claim to complete all necessary steps for Catalyst unlock (and optionally masterwork), in “piloted mode.”

Note: Some of these services may offer only the Catalyst, while others offer full Masterwork + Catalyst + possibly extra loot. Always check fine print when ordering.

What to Check / What Risks You Take Doing Boosts

If you consider paying for Sunshot Catalyst / Masterwork via a third-party service: treat it like a contract. Here’s what you must check and be ready for:

  • Confirm you own Sunshot — many services require the base exotic already in your collection before they can start the Catalyst process.
  • Delivery method matters
    • Piloted / Account-share: Booster logs into your account. Highest risk (account security, ToS).
    • Self-play / Sherpa-style: Less risky — you keep credentials, simply play alongside or get help. Choose this when possible.
  • Insist on proof of completion — ask for screenshots or stream showing Sunshot Catalyst (and Masterwork) in your vault, with timestamp and platform info. Without proof, you have no recourse if something goes wrong.
  • Check guarantee & wording — if they claim “guaranteed catalyst + masterwork,” check whether that means they ensure drop + grind or just attempt once. Because the Catalyst drop is RNG-based, nothing besides repeated runs can guarantee it.
  • Account security and hygiene — if they log into your account: change password/enable 2FA immediately after, avoid linking to other services, don’t re-use password, avoid sharing credentials outside.
  • Time vs price tradeoff — sometimes grinding the Catalyst yourself might be safer and only marginally slower than paying — especially if you play actively.
  • ToS / Ban / Suspension risk — many boosting services operate in a grey zone; using them might violate the game’s Terms of Service. There is the potential for account flagging or worse.
